Our Story

Behind the velvet

A neighborhood bar with the soul of an old supper club — and the people who keep it pouring.

Intimate bar lounge bathed in warm amber light with deep purple velvet booths and low candlelit tables

From a back room to your favorite booth.

The Velvet Pour opened on Spring Street with a simple idea: make the kind of bar we always wanted to drink in. Low light, real ice, no shortcuts, and a list that respects the classics as much as it loves to break from them.

We named it for the deep purple velvet that lines the back room — and for the way a good drink should land: smooth, considered, with a little weight to it. Years later the room is still candlelit, the jazz is still live, and the bartenders still build every drink to order.

The Team

Meet the bartenders

The people who read the room, mind the ice, and pour your night into a glass.

  • Marcus Reyes, Head Bartender & Partner at The Velvet Pour

    Marcus Reyes

    Head Bartender & Partner

Marcus spent a decade behind the great bars of New York and London before coming home to Los Angeles. He builds drinks the old way — cold ice, fresh juice, patience — and believes a Martini is a conversation, not a transaction.

Theo keeps the back bar honest — sourcing single-village mezcals, bonded ryes and dusty amari from across the world. Ask him what to drink and clear your evening; the answer is never short.
